Daylight saving time map

Who moves their clocks, and when. Most of North America and Europe observe daylight saving, as do parts of the southern hemisphere; most of Africa, Asia and the tropics don’t. The 2026 dates for every region are below the map.

Who skips daylight saving

China, Japan, South Korea, India, Iran (since the 2022 abolition), most of Africa, and Queensland, the Northern Territory, and Western Australia keep standard time year-round. The practical effect: New York and India are 10.5 hours apart in winter and 9.5 hours apart in summer — the gap narrows when the US springs forward, because India’s clock never moves.

Europe’s 2026 dates: forward on March 29, 2026, back on October 25, 2026. The EU has discussed abolishing DST; as of the current rule set, seasonal switching still happens.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries do not observe daylight saving time?

Most of Africa and Asia (including China, Japan, South Korea, India, and Iran since 2022), most of South America, and Queensland, the Northern Territory, and Western Australia keep standard time year-round. In the U.S., Hawaii and most of Arizona don’t change clocks.

When do the US and EU switch in 2026?

US: March 8 → November 1, 2026. EU/UK: March 29 → October 25, 2026. Because the dates differ, New York and London are only four hours apart (instead of five) from March 8 to 29 and from October 25 to November 1.

What is a “time zone change map”?

A map that shows which zones advance their clocks and which don’t, plus the switch dates — so you can see why a meeting’s time offset shifts twice a year.
